Listen

The Soprano Challenge (2007)

Noise electronic

Trans Improv Express (2008)

Experimental ambient noise

Tendentious D (2011)

This album has somehow become more ambient and less noisy than his previous recordings, but it still moves in many directions, and the ambience is from time to time spiced with his noisier sides. The slowness of the tracks and the progression of sounds suggest a more relaxed listening experiense and may be more open to a wider range of audience.

The player doesn't allow strange symbols or Norwegian lettering, so here is the correct spelling of the album & tracks:

BIOGRAPHY

Ronny Wærnes has for some years been part of the industrial / noise music scene in Bodø in the northern parts of Norway. As a solo artist, he is an uncompromising performer that varies from a wall of rhythmic noise based on acoustic-generated feedback, to the electronic sound art based on fieldrecordings or computer manipulated sounds. He moves between minimalist ambient soundscapes to big epic audiocathedrals, and painful feedback mixed with deep bass rumble. He has performed at such diverse locations as a major avant-garde festival in Germany, small clubs in London, Wales and Oslo, and together with Bodø Sinfonietta in Kulturhuset. He appears in many different bands and collaborations, and to name a few he varies from experimental rock (Blaakraft) to metal percussion rhythm (Psykisk Tortur), or recording collaborations with Zan Hoffman, or live performances with legendary krautrockers Faust.

His newly released CDR Tendentious D, on Go To Gate Records, is his contribution to the RPM challenge 2011, in which the whole idea is to create and record an entire album during the month of February. This album has somehow become more ambient and less noisy than his previous recordings, but it still moves in many directions, and the ambience is from time to time spiced with his noisier sides. The slowness of the tracks and the progression of sounds suggest a more relaxed listening experiense and may de more open to a wider range of audience.
